The Ultimate Experience In Grueling Terror and The Sequel To The Ultimate Experience In Grueling Terror!
They got up on the wrong side of the grave. Kiss Your Nerves Good-Bye with the Evil Dead 1 & 2 Double Feature!
Both films have similar plots, acting, special effects, and endings with Ash defeating the demons. I thought the first one was scarier than the second film, but the second film was funnier than the first. Both films, in my opinion, are definitely unique from other horror movies and I can understand why they have become a cult classic of horror movies. The movies lose some continuity because the demons can be hurt sometimes and other times they are immune from getting hurt. The movie displays demons well because they love to cause chaos and torment their victims. Definitely a must see, even if it’s only for the uniqueness of the movies themselves.

This is a fun double feature because of how different these movies are. The first Evil Dead is a pretty scary, low budget horror done really well. I love the camera work through the forest and that you never see an actual demon, just the personification through each possession. It leaves just enough room for imagination. You can see some of that budget restriction in the makeup and special effects but it never pulls you from the context of the movie. Evil Dead II, however, is so over the top it’s intentionally laughable. Blood shoots from the walls covering everything, then from the cellar covering everything, then from a neck covering everything, and so on all while the protagonist makes too much use of his eyebrows delivering cheesy lines. Groovy. It starts like good pulp and God only knows where it ends. I really enjoy the narrated intro of the history of the book. Don’t expect a sequel, these could be completely different franchises. They would still be just as good.

How could Ashley really be dumb enough to take another girl back to the place everything went down!? Apparently, Sam Raimi didn’t write the first Evil Dead expecting to make a sequel. The Evil Dead movies are in a category of their own. They’re dark and funny, kind of terrifying and shocking and make you question your decency because you feel a little demented for laughing at such a grotesque situation.
